LAMB OF GOD Guitarist On Upcoming 'Hiatus': 'We're Certainly Not Done'

In a brand new interview with the 107.7 The Bone radio station, LAMB OF GOD guitarist Mark Morton was asked about singer Randy Blythe's recent comment that the band would be taking a break following the completion of the touring cycle for 2015's "VII: Sturm Und Drang" album. He responded (hear audio below): "A lot of times, a hiatus… that's a subjective thing. 'Cause very often when we sort of go out of the public eye in terms of what we're doing as a band and things that are being publicized and doing interviews like this and that kind of thing, it doesn't mean we're not working. It takes us a fair amount of time to write and record these albums that we put out, so a lot of times we'll go off the radar and we're still working our little butts off to put music together, and then it comes out and then people hear it, and it's, like, 'Where did this come from?'"

He continued: "We've been a band for a long time and we're a collective group of very creative people. I personally never stop making music — I'm always making music — so I think LAMB might go out of the public eye for a little bit, but it doesn't mean I'm not doing stuff. I guess that's the most diplomatic way I can address it. But we're certainly not done, and we've got a lot of cool stuff coming up, both individually and collectively."

Blythe recently told the "Sixx Sense" radio show that it would be "time to take a break for real" after LAMB OF GOD's current tour and "concentrate more on writing and being at home with the family."

LAMB OF GOD's six-week North American tour with SLAYER and BEHEMOTH kicked off on July 12 in Bemidji, Minnesota and will run through August 20 in Phoenix, Arizona.

LAMB OF GOD's latest release was an EP called "The Duke", which came out last November via Epic. The EP's title track, which was recorded during the sessions for the band's last album, "VII: Sturm Und Drang", was inspired by the plight of a LAMB OF GOD fan named Wayne Ford, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010 and died five years later at the age of 33.
